Go up to the fork and turn left or turn right?

I have benefited a lot from reading his essay. The length of the essay is not long, but it is very in-depth. I will collect this essay. In the future, whenever I sit in a room by myself and read this essay repeatedly, I believe that there will be new discoveries every time. Believe me, this essay It’s really great!

At the beginning of the essay, Donald Norman told readers: Design is constantly evolving and improving. Design has long surpassed what it was at the beginning. Design is a way of thinking.

I often see this sentence in article: when you come to a fork in the road, take it. This is the central sentence of this essay, and I repeatedly introduce why you want to take it. Design is an interesting and evidence-based discipline. The designed product must have related logic, and it will not appear out of thin air. It is communicated by the designer. Human-oriented design, the author emphasized that the final product should be meaningful and solve people’s problems in life. In this process, we must find the key to the problem based on evidence, and constantly try and modify it.

Design as craft or design as a way of thinking? On this question, the author also gave us a clear answer. We should have two skills: first, craft and practice. Second, way of thinking. These two directions are what a designer should have, and this is the future of design.

Through reading this essay, I have stored a lot of theoretical foundation, which is very helpful for my future design road. I am very looking forward to hearing his speech in the next semester.
